John Hisel- Worship/Associate Pastor

Hisel FamilyJohn was born in Boise in 1979. His parents moved to Omaha, NE and Spokane, WA while his dad finished his education, but returned to Boise for good in 1989.   His first love was sports, and he grew up playing and trying any and every one he could. He graduated from Maranatha Christian School in 1997, while lettering in basketball, football, golf, and track. After high school, he attended college in Kirland, WA at Northwest College (now Northwest University), and graduated in 2003 with a major in youth ministry and a minor in Biblical Studies. John’s parents (John and Terri) live in the Treasure Valley, and his sister Melissa recently moved back to Boise with her husband Kent after 10 years in the Midwest. John was married to his wife Chandra in 2007- they graduated on the same day from the same college in 2003, but only briefly met until a youth event years later that Chandra attended with her sister in Nampa. They have 2 kids, Kristina and John IV.

After college, John moved back to the Treasure Valley and was Youth Pastor at Nampa Christian Faith Center (where he met and married Chandra) for six years before coming to KLC in fall of 2009 as worship/associate pastor. John and Chandra each have always felt a strong calling to the Treasure Valley, and believe strongly in the vision God has given Pastor Stan and Kris for Kuna and all of the surrounding areas. Throughout his time at KLC, John has filled many roles in addition to Worship Pastor, including Zone Director and Youth Pastor, but has remained focused on helping Pastor Stan accomplish the purpose laid out for KLC. He has a heart for seeing people encounter Jesus through authentic worship and believes it can happen in any setting, with a full band or in a simple gathering with people lifting their voices together. He has been honored to be involved in and lead worship at many Chi Alpha events at Boise State University, Fellowship of Christian Athletes events on public high school campuses, and numerous camps/retreats for the Assemblies of God. Chandra runs the kids ministry at KLC (nursery to sixth grade), and also handles all of the bookkeeping, as she is a certified CPA. She is also heavily involved in making both teen and kids camp happen each summer.

Though not as devoted as he once was, John still plays as many sports as time allows. Mostly, he likes to golf when the weather is nice and ski when the weather is cold.  He is still an avid sports follower, and closely follows Boise State football and basketball, Nebraska football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the LA Dodgers, and the LA Lakers. Chandra loves to read and be outside, and will watch sports if there is a fire to curl up to. They both love anything that includes their family.

Chase Forrey- Youth Pastor

View More: History: Chase was born in Boise, Idaho in 1991 and was raised in northwest Boise. He grew up playing a variety of sports with his dad as his coach. Summers were spent camping in the amazing forests of Idaho or at all-star baseball tournaments. After graduating from Capital High School, he attended Boise State University on a full ride academic scholarship and graduated with a Communication degree in 2014. Everyone is Chase’s immediate family attended Boise State at one time.

Ministry: Chase was called to ministry at a youth summer camp when he was in Jr. High. He immediately started serving in his church’s youth ministry and was in charge of the Bible club at Capital High School. Chase started attending Kuna Life Church after graduating from high school because he played the bass guitar and they needed a bass player. After playing once a month and getting to know the youth pastor at the district kids camp, he started interning in the spring. He interned at KLC for a little over 2 years before becoming the youth pastor in December of 2012. Chase is currently the youth pastor of RYM (KLC’s youth ministry) and is director of The Zone, a separate non-profit after school program. He also teaches the religious release class at KHS called Launch Pad. Chase and his wife Hannah lead a life group titled, “The Game Plan” and also host weekly small groups for the youth over the summer.

Family: Chase got married to the love of his life, Hannah Forrey, in the summer of 2014. Hannah has been attending KLC for over 20 years and loves serving in the nursery every Sunday morning. They enjoy leading students to Jesus and have a passion for the youth of Kuna. After purchasing their first house in Kuna, they adopted Comet, their golden retriever, in 2016. It didn’t take him long to add “custom” tooth marks to every piece of drywall to their brand new house.

Recreation/passions: Chase enjoys living in Idaho because of the many available outdoor recreational activities. He loves playing sports and enjoys coaching the RYM softball team each spring. In the fall and winter Chase spends his time hunting with friends and family. If the weather is nasty outside chances are Chase is out hunting ducks with his dog Comet. His favorite sports teams are anything Boise State (Go Broncos!), Seattle Mariners, and Seattle Seahawks.
